Pørni / Pernille S1

Favourite
Multiple award-winning comedy drama about Pørni who juggles the chaos of work, family, and her own needs as a selfless yet flawed child protective services worker navigating love, loss, and late-life crises.

Pørni – short for Pernilla - is the mother you wish you were, or had, but with the job nobody wants, which nonetheless is crucially important. Pørni is a woman who puts everyone else first and doesn’t always make the right choices for her.

Pørni works for the child protective service. Her 19-year-old daughter Hanna doesn’t want to move out and spends all her savings on expensive holidays with her friends, instead of a language course in Argentina. Pørni also has a 12-year-old who believes that her father left them because living with Pørni was a nightmare. Sigrid believes this because Pørni allows her to, mainly because she doesn’t want her daughter to know that her father is a nitwit. Which he is. Pørni is also responsible for her teenage nephew Leo and her father, who lives upstairs and is having something of a late-life crisis.
