This is a story about Denmark's first female Prime Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt and about the Danish population not being ready for a female prime minister.

The gaze on Helle is still deeply marked by traditional norms and notions of how a woman should look, how she should live and what interests she may have – if we are to take her seriously.

We follow how Helle today insists on being who she is. Through archive material we show what role she plays in the Social Democrat's struggle for survival, and how she was treated by the media and opponents from when she entered the political scene and up to the present day.
