Michelin-starred chef Niklas Ekstedt embarks on a global fire-cooking journey
Michelin-starred chef Niklas Ekstedt, internationally renowned for his pioneering approach to open-fire cooking, embarks on a global culinary journey to explore one of humanity's oldest cooking traditions.
From the legendary barbecue pits of Texas and the grill masters of the Basque Country to the bustling food culture of Istanbul, the ancient earth ovens of Peru, the wild ingredients of Finland and the wood-fired kitchens of Naples, Niklas travels across six countries in search of the people, techniques and traditions that continue to shape the way we cook with fire today.
Best known for his Michelin-starred restaurant Ekstedt in Stockholm and London's Ekstedt at The Yard, Niklas has spent much of his career reviving ancestral cooking methods and demonstrating how fire, smoke, embers and ash can transform food. Along the way, he meets renowned chefs, local food producers and passionate home cooks, uncovering the stories behind some of the world's most distinctive culinary traditions.
More than a food and travel series, this is a celebration of culture, craftsmanship and the universal human connection to cooking over fire.
