In a not-so-distant Oslo, architect Julie faces a dilemma: build a thousand apartments in the city's heart, or save an underground car park where a community resides? A powerful exploration of loneliness in an age of urban dystopia, this story recently garnered a special mention at the Berlin Series Awards 2023.
In a familiar yet futuristic Oslo, dogs are walked by drones and mortgage decisions are handed down by robotic voices emerging from boxes similar to those that take your order at a fast-food drive-through. It’s here that architect Julie finds herself faced with an unexpected opportunity when she and a friend stumble upon a growing community living illegally in an abandoned underground car park. When a project to build a thousand flats in Oslo is put out to tender, she has an idea to convert these empty car parks into residential buildings. This four-part series is a darkly satirical story set in a not-too-distant future that riffs on themes of inequality, self-interest, loneliness and isolation. Julie must decide between her closest friendship or her career.
