Ida's deep-seated fear of terrorism takes a twist when she suspects Axel, with ties to incel culture, is a looming threat as a future school shooter. This tale explores what happens when paranoia meets reality, and how obsession can either avert disaster or spark it.
Ida is a psychology student with an obsessive fear of terrorism. Newly arrived in Oslo, Ida cannot shake a constant feeling that disaster - especially terrorism - is just around the corner. So when she meets Axel, a young man with connections to the incel ('involuntary celibate') subculture, Ida becomes convinced that he is a future school shooter - and that she has a personal responsibility to stop a catastrophe.
Ida Takes Charge is based on Kjersti Halvorsen's critically acclaimed debut novel.
